**Try each day to keep items put away as they are used. This can include clothing hung up or placed in a dirty clothes container, toys returned to the toy shelf following use, glasses and other dishes put in the sink or dishwasher to be washed, shoes neatly by the door or in a closet, and toiletries returned to their place of keeping.
**Beds in the home should be made each day, and linens changed once a week.
**Floors swept daily and vacuumed and washed weekly. Carpets should be vacuumed weekly and spot cleaned as soon as the stain occurs.
**Surface areas such as windowsills, tabletops, bed frames, dresser tops, and over-the -doors should be dusted weekly with a special dust-catching cloth or a cloth sprayed with dust collecting formula.
**Bathrooms should be cleaned carefully as often as needed, at least once a week.
**Keep paper towels by all water source areas for wiping down sinks, countertops, appliances, and water-proof surfaces. Paper towels are also best used for drying hands to prevent spreading germs from shared hand towels.
**Wipe around door handles and other surfaces such as stair railings, phones, computers, TV remotes, and plastic armrests with an anti-bacterial wipe.
**Sanitize children’s toys regularly, especially if someone in the home is sick. This should include washing stuffed animals, pillows, and blankets. If an item cannot be washed, it can often be put in a dryer for several minutes to destroy germs.
**If there are pets in the home, keep them brushed and washed. Keep their food dishes and bedding clean as well.
**Keep appliances such as refrigerators, stoves and ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and small appliances such as microwaves, toaster ovens, blenders, can openers, and coffee makers clean both inside and out.
**Wash windows inside and out as needed, usually at least before the four seasonal changes.
**When the weather is nice unless someone in the home suffers from plant and grass allergies, open doors and windows to let fresh air circulate and provide a genuinely healthy environment inside.
Each person will have their own special resolutions to add to this list. When all ideas are gathered, make a schedule of how the resolutions will be carried out on a regular basis and which person will be responsible for doing so. No home is perfect, as no list of resolutions will be followed to perfection. Use the list as a guideline to have your home a healthy place to live in and to enjoy.
